Gensco has an immediate opening for an Accounts Payable Supervisor with our Accounting Team located at our Corporate Office in Tacoma, WA! Schedule - Monday - Friday from 8am-5pm
Full Time - starting pay range $75,000-$95,000 annually based on experience

Summary

  • Responsible for the supervision and the oversight of the accounting functions as they relate to the Accounts Payable processes.
  • Provides excellent internal and external customer service by treating customers, suppliers and Gensco employees fairly and responding to requesting parties in a timely manner – at least within one business day.

Duties and Responsibilities (may perform one or more of the following)

1. Accounts Payable Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the oversight and accuracy of Gensco’s General Ledger accounts as it pertains to the account payable functions.
  • Lead weekly check run activities and prepare summary information for the Accounting Manager to review.
  • Prepares/Reviews month-end close journal entries that are posted to Gensco’s general ledger to facilitate a timely and accurate accounting close process.
  • Ensures account reconciliations of the accounts payable general ledger are done timely and accurately.
  • Assist with Debit Memo and Freight Claim processing, tracking, reporting and monitoring their resolution to ensure Gensco collects all amounts due.
  • Responsible for prompt and accurate payments to Gensco vendors, utilizing the most efficient payment method accepted by the vendor.
  • Acts as the primary contact with our vendors and suppliers on all matters relating to payment.
  • Works with Gensco suppliers to facilitate payments methods that most benefit Gensco (ACH or Credit Card).
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls are in place, and work as intended, regarding the accounts payable process.
  • Oversee 1099 processes.
  • Research all payment discrepancies and/or vendor statement issues in a timely manner.
  • Oversees the employee reimbursement process, ensuring Gensco policies are followed, and appropriate documentation and support is gathered to facilitate reimbursement.

2. Accounting Department Support

  • Assist with managing Gensco’s COOP expense claim process to ensure prompt and accurate filing and subsequent collection from vendors.
  • Assist in Accounting Department report preparation activities.
  • Perform requested analysis or investigation of account activity or unusual items.

Education/Experience/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with a preference in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
  • Experience with EDI and similar electronic Accounts Payable processes.
  • Functional knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting processes and procedures.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage details and meet deadlines with 100% accuracy in a multi-task environment.
  • Customer service-oriented approach responds to requests with a sense of urgency.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, able to recognize issues and resolve or escalate appropriately.
  • Strong people skills, recognizes when to use formal or informal approach, not easily intimidated, accessible, ability to say “no” in a firm but polite manner.
  • Willing to “think out of the box” and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • High degree of honesty, ethics and integrity with prior work experience handling confidential information preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), particularly Excel
  • Works effectively in a Team environment.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively.
  • Able to work sitting or standing and to move freely throughout the facility.
  • Able to lift and carry equipment and supplies on a frequent basis.
