Summary
As the Payroll and Benefits Specialist, you will make customer service for both internal and external customers the top priority. This Team Member performs weekly and semi-monthly payroll processing, auditing, and reporting activities. Support HR administration of Gensco’s Team Member benefits and programs and maintain Team Member personnel records and documentation

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Payroll Processing

  • Process Gensco’s weekly and semi-monthly payroll and any out of cycle payrolls, which includes the following activities:
    • Review and process new-hire documents, change of status forms, terminations, garnishments, child support orders, performance reviews and all other payroll and/or benefit related Team Member documentation
    • Process and pay monthly commissions, fringe benefits, retro payments, non-cash compensation, etc.
    • Transmit time reporting and data transfer of payroll information to the payroll service provider weekly
    • Audit all payroll and benefit changes for accuracy and complete all reconciliation activities
    • Prepare manual checks as necessary and obtain proper approval
    • Review and reconcile any required payroll tax reporting performed by Gensco’s payroll service provider and prepare required industrial insurance filings/payment requests
  • Respond to Team Member inquiries regarding payroll questions and issues
  • Respond to 3rd party employment verifications following Gensco’s Employment Verification process
  • Assist with payroll analysis, data gathering and reporting as may be required
  • Provide required payroll information for industrial insurance and unemployment claims
  • Provide back-up support to reconcile payroll reports with Gensco’s GL

2. Team Member Benefit Administration

  • Prepare necessary data transfer, record keeping and reporting for Gensco’s Profit Sharing 401(K) plan
  • Provide support for Team Member benefit administrative activities including:
    • Process forms for enrollment, COBRA, changes in status, etc. and coordinate with 3rd party administrator
    • Perform required administrative processes for voluntary benefit programs
  • Assist with internal communication, promotion, and education efforts for Gensco’s Team Member benefits

3. Administrative Support

  • Create and maintain required Team Member employment files
  • Organize and appropriately file and maintain payroll records and documentation
  • Monitor and report compliance with Gensco’s HR and payroll SOPs

Skills and Qualifications

  • 4-year degree highly preferred or equivalent experience
  • Functional knowledge of payroll processing with 3+ years’ experience preferred
  • Functional knowledge of benefits administration
  • Strong computer skills - MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage details and meet deadlines with 100% accuracy in a fast, multi-task environment
  • Strong people skills, customer service-oriented approach, responds to requests with a sense of urgency
  • Proactive, self-motivated, able to recognize issues and resolve or escalate appropriately
  • High degree of honesty, ethics and integrity with prior work experience handling confidential information
